Assessing Surveys

The Town of Hudson, NH Assessing Department conducted property tax surveys for 2008 that examined what the average and median property taxes were for 62 communities around the state of New Hampshire.

The Town of Hudson had one of the lowest average property tax bills for an average assessed home, in the entire state of New Hampshire.

The study further showed that there are only 2 communities of Hudson’s population or greater whom have lower taxes, Manchester and Rochester, both of whom have significantly more retail/industrial tax base than Hudson, and also benefit from school tuition agreements from neighboring communities.

A 2nd survey conducted by the Hudson, NH Assessing Department revealed that Hudson, on the tax rate (municipal) that the Board of Selectmen would be most concerned with, has the lowest average tax bill out of any community with a populations similar to Hudson, 15,000 – 24,999 in population.

With the Board of Selectmen having proposed an even lower tax rate from 2008, $15.34 for the 2009 tax year, this year’s pending survey promises to show that Hudson’s average property tax burden will continue to outshine many of the communities that are typically compared to Hudson.
