Included in these responsibilities are Building, Health, Planning, and Zoning functions. The Department is responsible for issuance of all building, electrical, plumbing, health, and zoning permits. Additionally, the department administers and interprets the Zoning Ordinances and provides staff assistance to the Planning Board and Zoning Board of Adjustment.

The Community Development Department team will provide assistance to both business and residential community members related to land use and economic development. We respond to inquiries from residents with regard to building, health, environmental, planning and zoning issues. Also the Community Development Department will encourage business growth by providing valuable information to both new and existing businesses who would like to either locate or expand in Hudson.

The Community Development Department was established by the Board of Selectmen in January of 2001. On January 4th, 2009 the Board of Selectmen appointed Mark A. Pearson as Hudson's Assistant Town Administrator. The appointment culminates an effort undertaken by the Board of Selectmen to reorganize the administrative functions of the town. The Assistant Town Administrator will be responsible for assisting the Town Administrator in coordinating the administrative functions of the Selectmen's office and supervise the daily operation of the Planning, Engineering, Zoning, Building, and Inspectional Services departments.

The Building Inspector/Health Officer is responsible for the issuance of all building, electrical, plumbing, septic system, and health permits. Code Enforcement is a priority and responsibility within the Community Development Department. We will strive to uphold all regulations set forth in the Hudson Zoning Ordinance and building codes. We would encourage residents to comply with local land use codes which in turn will compliment our code enforcement efforts.

The Community Development Department team is here to advance the Town of Hudson as we continue through the early years of the 21st Century.
